05/01/02 - DocJet version 4.2 build 7 released
This release fixes bugs found in the new output.

Defects Corrected

  • With the new derivation tree, a long-standing problem was fixed: If you had an especially deep derivation tree, the generated HTML for the table was correct, but for some reason, IE was rendering it badly. (Actually this was fixed in build 5, just verified now).
  • If you imported an external HTML, the popup code would fail on hyperlinks generated within that file. (You'd get a JavaScript error.)
  • The way GoToSource.DLL is handled has been improved. Before you had to do all kinds of setup to keep the "Internal" output format from producing pages that, every time you loaded one, would either take a long time to load and/or hassle you about running unsigned ActiveX controls. Now GoToSource.DLL is shipped with DocJet and automatically installed in your output directory. It has some special MS hoodoo in it now so that it doesn't generate warnings. The old "GoToSource URL" variable is no longer needed.
  • A new GPF bug was introduced with the new Popup code. It's been tracked down and killed.
  • VB "Modules" are now treated as "{internal}", and the 'instancing' attribute of VB classes is treated like a security specifier. That is, if you have a class where the instancing is "Private", it will be treated as if it was a private member, and made secret unless you are generating "Internal" output.
  • In VB, enumeration types and constants automatically get global scope. In fixing that, some new directives were added. "{upscope}" makes an alias for the current object in the surrounding scope. "{globalscope}" puts it in the global scope.
  • The setup script would fail if run on a machine without the VB runtime DLL installed already.
  • A link to the class hierarchy was always showing up in the HTMLHelp table of contents, even when it was not really needed (when you have a flat inheritance tree, for instance.) Also, the new HTML table of contents wasn't showing the table of contents at all.
  • The IDL source file scanner sometimes would burp out an error message "UNUSUAL DECLARATION WITH MISMATCHED QUOTES" for no readily apparent reason. The reason has been discovered and the bug fixed.
  • The class hierarchy looked bad in Netscape.
  • The new table of contents didn't work properly in Netscape 4.72. So, it's been redone again. This version is almost the same as the table of contents as of version 3.2. It has a mechanism in it to show the TOC in no-collapse mode in older browsers.
